The last Pop Sci invention award that we’ll share comes from MingZher Poh at MIT’s MediaLab. Using a webcam, he’s produced a mirror that can give you information about your vital signs.
The webcam reads reflection of light from your skin, which changes based on the amount of blood being pumped through it. That information can be used to monitor things like heart rate.
Lots of “future tech” concept videos contain this idea of a mirror that tells you your vitals. Well, here it is. It’s real.
